Transas Unveils New Onboard Systems

Transas presented its news generation of onboard equipment at the Europort Maritime 2007. The equipment is a new 4000 series of Navi-Sailor ECDIS (Multifunction Display), Chart-Radar and Navi-Conning. Another development from the company is a new version of Transas VDR/S-VDR 3200.
Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS 4000 (MfD) combines type-approved ECDIS, Chart-Radar, Conning Display, the Chart Assistant utility and SPOS weather module, giving the mariner the ability to switch between applications at a button's touch. A continual flow of information for presentation of crucial navigational information and objects keeps the users informed about any situation. The improved functions lead to an unprecedented multiple effect. The navigator-friendly environment for the One Man Bridge operation reduces workload and stress; chart correction, route and user database synchronisation is available at all workstations and applications; and the sensor redundancy and dual network ensures data integrity and reliability for network configuration.

Transas Navi-Radar 4000/ Chart-Radar performs all the functions of radar and ARPA and can overlay electronic charts and AIS targets on a radar picture. The system allows a single click between chart displays, automatic chart loading and zooming whilst displaying current chart information. Chart-Radar 4000 is compatible with official ENC/S-57 and TX-97 chart formats.

Transas Navi-Conning 4000 is the new vector conning system intended to simplify the work of watch officers by providing valid information on the operation of ship systems. It is possible to order tailor-made screen layouts for the users with the developed parameter indicators not included in the base screen views. The system provides the navigator with the navigational sensors’ and manoeuvre information.

Transas VDR/S-VDR 3200 is fully compliant with the IMO and IEC requirements. The system can now be supplied in VDR or S-VDR configuration, with the options of six different fixed and float free capsules. Among other features are picture grabbing from two radars, ten sources of audio signal recording, and additional external USB HDD. The system is certified as ECDIS backup and can be used onboard SOLAS vessels to meet ECDIS backup requirements.
