Helmepa: Initiative For The Recycling Of Packaging Waste By The Member Company Kyla Shipping
2, December 2008

Our member company, Kyla Shipping informed us on its recent initiative to drastically promote the recycling of solid waste generated onboard its vessels, for which we congratulate it.

Specifically, the company came to an agreement with its ship suppliers; so that the latter can collect the used packaging materials and deliver them to recognised packaging waste management networks that operate in our country.

Forwarding packaging waste for recycling and recovery, contributes to the achievement of the national targets that have been set, that means, by December 31, 2011, 60 per cent by weight of glass to be recycled, 60 per cent of paper and cardboard, 50 per cent of metals, 22.5 per cent for recyclable plastics and 15 per cent for wood.
