The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) have issued Marine Notice 16/2007 as a reminder for interested parties of the requirement for foreign crew visiting Australia from the 1st of January 2008 to be in possession of a Maritime Crew Visa (MCV).

Issued free of charge and valid for three years, early applications are being encouraged to avoid restrictions on board for crew members and fines of A$5,000 per person for operators, masters, charterers, owners and agents.

Applications can be processed on line in a few days and paper applications in approximately four weeks.
